The Reset I Needed (part two)
Part two of two: what forty-eight hours gave back
Going into my little reset, it had just plainly been a difficult first half of the year for our family. I made the choice to close my bookshop and go back to being a stay-at-home mom. There’s been some other hard family stuff too. I’m just adjusting to the change, finding myself in a different season than I expected.
Some days I feel grateful and settled. Other days I feel completely untethered, like I’m supposed to know what I’m building next but I don’t. On those days, I find myself scrolling more to numb. I disappear into my phone looking for answers, distraction, validation, inspiration. But I get trapped in the doom scrolling and it makes everything worse.
So Lilly | The Commonplace Circle and I booked a hotel. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in Paris, but it was just a simple hotel in our town. We packed books, snacks, journals, and art supplies, with no expectations beyond reading a book or two.
